I hope the observance of the World Standards Day with Quality Standard Awards will generate the requisite interest and motivation about the impact of standards in creating confidence among businessman and consumers and thereby promoting quality standard culture in Pakistan. I hope that Quality Standard Awards will open new avenues in further sensitizing the community to the importance of ensuring quality in accordance with internationally recognized standards and practices.

I also wish to compliment the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), Ministry of Science & Technology for playing a vital role in Quality Standard Awards with The Consumers Eye Pakistan since 2010 for promoting awareness of the importance of Standards. In this task it has rightly involved the civil society and the corporate sector without which it would not be possible to adequately meet the international quality standards.

It is significant that the business entrepreneurs and capitalist community of Pakistan have realized the importance of quality standards in their business whether it is a product or a service. There are several key reasons why Quality Standard really matters to our economy. Although Pakistani Products and services are still far behind in this global race of Quality Standards but we still have the opportunity and we have to work hard to create Quality Standard culture in Pakistan.

Government is meant for good policies and governance and we have made progress despite serious internal and external challenges.  We are striving hard to play our role in ensuring that Pakistan has enabling policies in place so as to remain attractive as an investment and trade destination for local and international investors. The Consumers Eye Pakistan (TCEP) and Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) Ministry of science and technology Government of Pakistan established “Quality Standard Award” in 2010 on occasion of 41st World Standards Day 2010 with the support of Standards Gazette International & Sindh Journalists Network (SJN), for those Companies/ Institutions that are manufacturing, selling and performing standardized products/Brands and services for the Pakistani Consumers ensuring human health and safety and provide thrust to consumer protection as well as consumer satisfaction or have ISO and PSQCA Certification. This AWARD is developing a relationship of trust among consumers, producers, service providers and concern authorities in Pakistan.
